It’s been a while…

Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 2:05 am (Big Business)

I know. I’m a bad blogger. Bad Jonna. Bad. Sorry for leaving all my gracious fans hanging for so long. I’ve been busy and to be quite honest…just not really feeling the writing as of late. I think much of this can be attributed to the arrival of my camera and the fact that a lot of my creative energy has been going towards it and photoshop. I am going to make a valiant effort at writing more regularly again…I haven’t even told you about Christmas yet!

Right now I’m busy trying to get stuff done for the business. Tonight I’ve been working on my business cards and wanted to post it to get your fabulous opinions. Although logo numero tres received many votes the final decision was with number two. It’s more streamlined and classic. A little more timeless and a little less trendy (but I DO love trendy…don’t get me wrong!).

I did a shoot with the daughter of one of my good friends this week. The daughter is actually a good friend too. We went out on Wednesday morning…in literally freezing temps and she was a trooper! This was part of her birthday present from me. She turned 15 on Thursday. Happy Birthday Em!!! As you will soon see-she is just a beautiful girl. Inside and out. James and I have decided we would like to clone her for a child. (By the way…the center picture on the business card is her.)

Also gracing the card are our two gorgeous nieces. Leah is on the left and Elenna is on the right. You’ll of course recognize the right picture. The left is one I shot of Leah over Christmas.

So-please be kind enough to give your opinions on the card. Likes, dislikes, color suggestions….whatever. I’m not going to order until I get a little feedback.

Here it is: Front and then back. Oh-and note: these are sized for a full bleed at the printer so imagine these with 1/8 of an inch less on all sides.

PS-if ANYONE could PLEASE tell me why I am having problems typing in paragraphs that would be great. I’m having to do a lot of extra work to make them happen and it is quite annoying. Seriously…it bugs me so much that it is part of the reason I have not been writing.

Well it’s about time you got back to the keyboard, we have all been sitting here with baited breath! ;)

The logo is great…. the pictures look great…..the combo of colors is not my favorite, but you know what, they aren’t my business cards:)

What do you mean is someone could tell you why you can’t type in paragraphs? I’m not understanding what it is you are having a problem with.

    Love ya!

Love the layout! I agree that the colors could maybe be tweaked a little. The green in particular. You might try something between an off-white and khaki so the red in the logo pops a little more. Just a thought…. Love, love, love the pics of Em! You are a talented lady! Miss you!

I’ll play around a bit. Thanks for the input. The reason I went with a greenish/gray is because red and green are ‘compliment’ colors…meaning they are opposite on the color wheel and therefore when put together you get more of the ‘pop’ than with any other color. I did try a khaki but didn’t like it as well. I’ll probably post more color options soon. I SO love your feedback! THANKS!

Hey! The business cards look great and I love the photos you chose to put on them. I can’t wait to see more of your stuff on your blog!
A couple type suggestions: (sorry, the designer in me is coming out)
on the back: you might play around with the typeface that you used for your name and the website/phone number. I think it might look better if you had 2 different typefaces instead of the one. If you keep the rh logo the same, you could maybe do your name and the info in a sans serif or something? Just a thought…
As for colors: I like the colors you chose - you might tone down the red a little and make it more of a “brick red” type of color. Or, it could just be my monitor or how it shows up on screen. It always looks different when printed.

    Nice work!
